Development Challenges for NFP’s

Many of us feel the need to volunteer our time and talent in support of community based organizations. These organizations may be large or small and typically operate as registered not for profit entities that have a Board of Directors as the governing body.

Frequently the organizations have an Executive Director or a Business Manager or similar title for the person responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the business. The operations person take direction from the Board of Directors. This direction may be from the Executive Team, the President, or special committees consisting of Board Members to oversee an area such as finance or human resources.

Over time the process of Governance may become problematic and a new model for managing the affairs of the organization is required. Development of dynamics from Boards are able to manage increasingly complex organizational developments is an area where outside support is required.

Board Governance processes including the development of HR Power strategies is an area of expertise. I have been an Executive Director and have also served on several different boards.

Contact myself for a discussion of strategies that may be beneficial for your organization to undertake to have a well functioning community based operation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best,

Marie-Helene
